On 12/12/12 North Korea Fired a Missile...
So apparently North Korea fired a missile yesterday (12/11/2012.. 12/12/2012 in NK). This footage from the launch shows a now record height for the self proclaimed "best Korea." In response to this news, America's bravest super-special-awesome military will funnel all tax payer dollars into this to further watch for any progress in NK's missile capabilities. Medicare and Hostess pension funds are now also being funneled to Utah to speed up construction of the $2 Billion+ . Originally build to count how may low-IQ Americans post, text and say "YOLO" while actually being serious in the statement... - Full Post

Philosophical conundrums
Many philosophical issues have arisen in the technical design of Web standards over the years. Philosophical conundrums sometimes seem out of context in the light of seemingly more pressing technical problems. Yet, the very fact that these philosophical problems are constantly raised indicates that they are not easily dispensed with, but should instead be the focus of serious and ongoing long-term discussions.
This is why this CG aims at undertaking such discussions, even outsourcing them to alleviate the task of other groups. To clarify the goal of this CG: it should not be a place to do unconstrained philosophical research but rather a forum to examine issues arising from the technical community.
You might want to collaborate, take part of that .

The beauty of IOS7
This is the first product of the post-Jobs Apple.
The design of iOS 7 is based on rules. There’s an intricate system at work, a Z-axis of layers organized in a logical way. There is a profound reduction in the use of faux-3D visual effects and textures, but iOS 7 is anything but flat. It is three dimensional not just visually but logically.

Two years
This is a personal opinion.
Two years since the start of as a social platform, and it seems like it was yesterday.
I was honoured, through an invitation, to be one of the first 5000 european members who tested the platform in its beta state. And I have not stop to enjoy the pleasure of being social - again - using this platform. Google+ is intended to the person, as a brand. Coming from and old-skool experience from the now extinct Web 2.0., I found curious there was no place for brands, but for people.
But brands still make the market, so, still in its early years, it is my hope Google+ will reinforce their efforts to make a more stable and successful platform for companies. There is the need for them to show what they are able to do and offer. And be part of the G+ social ecosphere.
Yours truly.

Using HTTP properly
The main problem with is that today, it's used in a way that it wasn't designed to be used. HTTP is very efficient at transferring an individual file. But it wasn't designed to transfer a large number of small files efficiently, and this is exactly what the protocol is called upon to do with today's websites.
Could not agree more. These may be an answer to your question why I managed and developed projects like I do. Some of us did not learn how to code the web at school. We were just doing it.

… And if there's editing it hasn't interfered with the style of the writing. The personalities of the writers come through. That is the essential element of weblog writing, and almost all the other elements can be missing, and the rules can be violated, imho, as long as the voice of a person comes through, it's a weblog.

So You Like Being Watched?
Uh, no. I think it’s entirely sane to be paranoid, in a balanced way. Use HTTPS everywhere. Don’t share your location freely, trade it for things you need. Bear in mind that your telephone company always knows where you are, and has no business reason not to tell anyone in a uniform, if asked. And that your email provider, presented with a proper warrant, will efficiently cough up yours, including those you thought you’d deleted. And that anything going any distance over the public telephone network is probably being tapped by at least one government. And that Internet-voice and Internet-video operators may not even ask for a warrant before they spill your bean.
A solid description of facts which everyone of us know since the old times of the 36.6Kpb modem. Or earlier.
Because of this, - and like the quote mentions - there is no real need to be insanely paranoid. Just keep in my mind that the Internet s a public place. A common wealth.

Amend Multiple Commit Messages with Git
Today my pair and I were about to push multiple commits when I realized we had forgotten to add the story number to all of the commit messages. Basically when I was looking at my git log:
git log --oneline
I would see something like the following.
e16f24e Fourth Commit
b4bbd67 Third Commit
57a2ca3 Second Commit
3790b98 First Commit
Our usual convention is to add the story number to the commit message. I knew that I could amend a single commit with ‘git commit –amend’, but I’ve never had to rewrite the git history like this.
To do this, we need to do an interactive rebase.
git rebase -i HEAD~5
Git will now show you the commits you specified – the last 5 in my case – in reverse order.
pick a8b8553 Previous commit message
pick 3790b98 First Commit
pick 57a2ca3 Second Commit
pick b4bbd67 Third Commit
pick e16f24e Fourth Commit
You now need to specify the commits you wish to edit – in my case this was the last four commits.
pick a8b8553 Previous commit message
e 3790b98 First Commit
e 57a2ca3 Second Commit

How to Create a Patch with Git
Today I needed to transfer a few commits from my pair’s laptop to my own. Since git is a distributed source control system you can actually pull commits directly from any git repo (including someone’s local repo) – as you would from GitHub. Unfortunately this requires SSH access which we didn’t have on the (corporate) network we were on. I really wanted something simpler – I wanted to create a patch.
This is actually really easy to do with git. Basically git allows us to use the result of a diff statement as a patch. For example, if you have some local changes which are not yet committed you can run a simple ‘git diff’ to see the changes. If you want to package these changes as a patch you can simply pipe the result into a patch file.
git diff > changes.patch
Now you can apply this patch to any other repo.
git apply changes.patch
By modifying the diff statement it’s very easy to create the patch you want. In my case I wanted to package the last 4 commits as a single patch.
git diff HEAD~4 > changes.patch
Happy coding. - Full Post

Why Chrome Firefox IE behaves differently with same html css code
I am doing ruby on rails web development recently.
I found out that same html and css code may has different appearance.
This is because different browser have their own understanding of the code.
To get rid of it,

But got an error when I am trying to use git push heruko master
What I did:
git clone an existing app that is completed
then do everything as the tutorial said
but got this error
What to do?
It seems that the old .git information has some bad effect on deploying
So
here is the solution:
rm -rf .git
git init
git add .
git commit -am "Reinitialize"
heroku create --stack cedar

A Pinterest like photo sharing website by Ruby on Rails
For the source code:
.git
A photo sharing website with simple and beautiful user interface.
User could register new account, upload photos, follow other users, comment on posted photos and search for users or photos.
Here is the first look of this app. User could login or register.
When a user who hasn’t logined manually type ‘localhost:3000/home’ which requires logined user, he will get this error page.
When registering a new account, user has to provide a valid email address and also avatar image.
When user registered a new account successfully, he will receive a welcome email to the email address he provides.
This is a page for a user. All pictures posted by him will list right here.
On the home page, all the pictures posted by yourself and by the users you have followed would be listed. Newest posted pictures always come first in the order.
You can also see your profile, see your following, see your followed by or simply logout by using the menu on the right side that pops up when clicking on the button with your username.
Of course, you can use the search bar on the left top. If you do not provide any keyword there, you will get all users and pictures as follows. You can search for a username, a picture tag or a picture detail. Search result are listed separately, with users on the left and pictures on the right.
You could also comment on a posted picture. All comments are listed below the picture.
You could also tweet this page if you want. However, in a local version of this website, you cannot do so. If you are the user who posts this picture, you will also see the “Delete” button and “Edit” button.
So I think that’s pretty it.
Note: If you want, you can visit the online version of this website, .
However, making it as the same as local version requires extra work that I haven’t done.
So a online version:
All pictures will be gone after a certain time.(Because heroku does not support to store images in folder /public/….. Solution: Actually, I think using Amazon S3 service may be helpful. Just store all the images on Amazon server, then the database in this app restores the reference for how to retrieve image from Amazon server.)
User will not receive welcome email after registering. (Because extra add-on is needed for doing so. I didn’t buy the add-on on heroku)
Feel free to contact me, cenhiangapply@gmail.com
